iDance Classic, one of Aotearoa's biggest Modern Jive events, is back for 2026! New venue, new format, same love of dance. Registrations are open now.
Register via My iDanceWe’re stoked to be back at the beautiful Alan Gibbs Centre at Wellington College for this year’s iDance Classic. Wellington College is located just next to the Basin Reserve in Wellington City, and next door to St Mark’s School (where we normally hold classes).
Classic kicks off with a party on Friday night! Doors open at 7pm, and music will play through until 11:00pm. This is a great chance to meet new people from all over Aotearoa, catch up with old friends, and do HEAPS of dancing. It's also a good chance for you to get a feel for the venue and the competition floor.
Saturday is where the suede hits the dancefloor. Doors open at 9am (we'll have a coffee cart on site from then too, don't worry), then the competitor's and judge's briefing will start at about 9:30am. Our first round will marshal at about 9:55am.
The competition will run through the day until about 6pm, which is about when we'll break for dinner. We'll be back with performances and finals at about 7pm, then prizegiving at about 9:30pm.
2026 Competition CategoriesBy popular demand, we're introducing a new block of social dancing at Classic 2026! After prizegiving, we'll throw on some music, dim the lights, and party until midnight.
No more competition nerves, no more worrying about when you're supposed to be marshalling. This is a chance to let loose and catch up on all those extra dances you've promised throughout the day.
